American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO)

ASTRO, September 21-24, 2008, in Boston, MA

Founded in 1958, ASTRO’s mission is to advance the practice of radiation oncology by promoting excellence in patient care, providing opportunities for educational and professional development, promoting research and disseminating research results and representing radiation oncology in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

ASTRO also focuses on fostering collaboration between radiation oncologists and the larger medical community.  They work to establish links between their members and medical oncologists, surgeons, urologists, gynecologists, internists, family practitioners and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients are offered the most up-to-date treatments available.

 

Protocol Development Committee (PDC)

The next PDC meeting will be on Saturday, September 20, 2008 and coincide with the American Society for the Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology in Boston, MA.

The PDC consists of a diverse and dedicated group of CyberKnife® Society members working together to define CyberKnife Practice Guidelines and Research Proposals.  It is the goal of this committee to ultimately increase treatment options for patients with cancer and other functional disorders throughout the body.  The PDC provides a forum to work individually and/or collaboratively to publish clinical papers; collaborative groups include Surgeons, Radiation Oncologists, Physicists, Physicists, Nurses, and Radiation Therapists.

 

2009 8th Annual CyberKnife® Users' Meeting 

The Call for Papers is now open!

The next CyberKnife Users’ Meeting will be held February 4-8, 2009, at The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida.

This year’s meeting program offers the latest scientific and clinical information in the form of numerous oral and poster presentations.  The focus will be on extracranial and intracranial experiences and treatment outcomes from worldwide CyberKnife users.

There will be concurrent specialized sessions targeted for all members of the CyberKnife treatment team as well as for hospital and department administrative professionals.  Among sessions included are tumor review boards, physics focus groups, radiation therapist breakout groups, nurse/coordinator focus groups, business development, marketing strategies, patient management and efficiencies, coding and reimbursement.

Attendance is open to all centers with signed contracts.

Abstracts must be submitted by September 30, 2008.

Registration will open on September 15, 2008.
